Nigerian Air Traffic Controllers’ Association (NATCA) is an independent non-profit making professional body of individuals concerned with safety, reliability, and efficiency of the Nigerian Air Traffic Management system. The Association’s membership is strictly composed of licensed Air Traffic Controllers (practicing, retired or in training) in addition, provision is made herein for corporate, associate and honorary membership of the Association
NATCA evolved in response to the global changes within the aviation industry, as well as the need to urgently address the welfare and professional needs of its members in order to enhance air safety. it is in line with the above that NATCA opted for a professional status devoid of labour unionism, so as to be able to make meaningful contribution in the areas of Aircraft Accident Investigation, professional ethics, information sourcing /dissemination, ATC standards as well as ATC personnel licensing and training. Consequently, it shall remain an affiliate of the International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers’ Association (IFATCA)
In order to promote and encourage the advancement of Aviation and Air Traffic Control, the aim and objective of the association shall be as follows:
1. To enable persons engaged in the profession of Air Traffic Control for the time being or retired therefrom, to federate or to cooperate by becoming members of the Association
2. To promote, maintain and enhance the status and wellbeing of the Air traffic Control profession and the aviation community.
3. To promote discussions, to facilitate the exchange of information and generally to raise the standard of knowledge of those engaged in the profession.
4. General, to watch over, protect and advance the profession;
5. To assist in the sourcing, processing and dissemination of information considered of professional interest to to members
6. To conduct or encourage the conduct of investigations or research studies into any pr0fesional matter or aviation related issues considered of immediate concern to the association and/or its members
7. To promote, establish, undertake, administer and contribute to any charitable institution or fund whose objectives are to assist deserving persons who are or have been engaged in the profession;
8. To recommend jus t and proper hours of duty and other conditions of service for members in line with international standards
9. Provided that the Nigerian Air Traffic Controllers Association is not run as a trade union, it shall be non- partisan and non-religious
10. To do all other things which may be incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above.
